The Hideous Beast of Nipple Yeast Continued…

I said I would give you updates on how the natural treatment for our yeast infections are going. So here we are. I will update daily.

Day 1

Started treatment. My symptoms are: Deep burning breast pain. Pain while nursing. Nipple sensitivity. Baby has a thick white coating on her tongue, covering most of it. Doesn’t wipe off like milk residue. Baby is fussy while nursing. Thank God baby doesn’t throw up with the coconut oil in her mouth like she did with both Daktarin and Nystatin.

Day 2

Less deep breast pain today – maybe only experienced it twice as opposed to yesterday which was about 8 times. Nipples are less sensitive and red. Babies thrush on tongue has reduced in size. Its nice that the coconut oil doesn’t make my nipples stick to my bra like the Daktarin did.

Day 3

Still some deep breast pain today on my right – but to be honest I am not sure if it is a plugged duct or the yeast. Babies tongue still has a lot of white gunk on it, so I am upping the amount of coconut oil that I am putting on it – I don’t know if I was using enough before.

Day 4

Only experienced deep breast pain once. Baby girl still has some white gunk on her tongue, but it has lessened. Did not take my garlic today as all I can taste at the moment is garlic. And forgot to take my apple cider vinegar!

Day 5

No breast pain! Hooray! Looks like we are definitely on the road to mending. Thrush on babies tongue has lessened again. It is taking a while but I can see the coconut oil IS working.

Day 6

Still no breast pain and babies mouth is clearing up more.

Day 7

Well I am going to say this endeavour was a complete success. Baby still has a little in her mouth but the coconut oil is definitely working. I will be continuing this for a couple of weeks for just in case to make sure it is all gone. I can’t believe it has worked! There was a couple of days where I forgot the ACV and garlic, so I think the coconut oil was the main exterminator of the thrush.

Day 14

I stupidly didn’t treat very vigiliently for a couple of days and the beast returned. Today is the first day with no symptoms again, so I won’t be stupid about it this time. Update in a week.

Day 21

No symptoms for a week, brilliant for me! But for baby girl, she has had a complete outbreak in her mouth again… ARGH

Day 28

So I am still symptom free. Baby girls mouth thrush has reduced significantly. She started a growth spurt on day 21 which coincided with the outbreak. So I definitely think the two things are related. Treating everyday after a feed is no longer a big deal as I know that the coconut oil does work. I couldn’t predict that baby girl would have a growth spurt which would affect it.
